Time to plant those amaryllis bulbs so that they will bloom in time for the Holidays.

Amaryllis bulbs for each pot, the Dutch variety large bulbs will produce two stems with at least four blooms each.

Preparation: The base of the roots of the bulb should be placed in lukewarm water for a few hours.
Planting: Plant bulbs in potting compost, many pre-mixed are available. Plant bulb up to its neck in potting compost, being careful not to damage roots. Press the soil down firmly to set bulb securely in place.
Placement & Watering: Place the potted bulb in a warm place with direct light. The ideal temperature is 68 to 70 degrees F. Water sparingly until the stem appears, then, as the bud and leaves appear, gradually water more.
Amaryllis bulbs take about 7 weeks to bloom.
