BULBS IN BLOOM, ELEGANT & EASY GIFTS OR CENTERPIECES FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

Time to plant those amaryllis bulbs so that they will bloom in time for the Holidays.
Bloom time: 7 weeks

List of items to purchase:

5"to 6" diam. small pots to hold a single bulb
Amaryllis bulbs for each pot, the Dutch variety large bulbs will produce two stems with at least four blooms each.
Beautiful ribbon to tie around each pot.

Great website for bulbs: www.whiteflowerfarm.com

Preparation: The base of the roots of the bulb should be placed in lukewarm water for a few hours.
Planting: Plant bulbs in potting compost, many pre-mixed are available. Plant bulb up to its neck in potting compost, being careful not to damage roots. Press the soil down firmly to set bulb securely in place.
Placement & Watering: Place the potted bulb in a warm place with direct light. The ideal temperature is 68 to 70 degrees F. Water sparingly until the stem appears, then, as the bud and leaves appear, gradually water more.
Amaryllis bulbs take about 7 weeks to bloom.

Unique design tips for your next event!  Weddings & Holidays!

Bouquets & Centerpieces are more than just flowers during the Holidays and winter months. This is the time to incorporate nuts, leaves, whole seasonal fruit. Your local farmers market is a great place to purchase all your seasonal fruit and nuts, and even greenery.

Do not limit you color palette to only traditional combinations. Try new color combinations like lavender/orange with touches of gold or copper, or try red/turquoise with touches of silver. Using vintage vases and containers add that personal touch, and is an easy way to go green.   Have fun.

Vintage ribbon & Flowers are great for embellishing bouquets, place cards, napkin rings, and gifts.

Two websites I love are:
www.nicolaskniel.com , for all of your Millinery Flowers.
www.accessoriesofold.com, for all your vintage ribbons.

Traveling? Give Back while you travel, it is so easy.
Charity Begins is an American non-profit that connects tourists to students in need in the region you are visiting. All you have to do is contact the organization about a month before you depart to receive a parcel of needed educational supplies, at whatever weight or size you prefer. Bring these items with you on the plane, and a local school representative will meet you when you arrive. It's simple and saves charities massive overseas shipping fees.

Design tips for your next Posh Party!

Whether you are having an intimate dinner party, a backyard BBQ, or a large and lavish event, I recommend to always follow the two must haves for any occasion: Fresh Flowers or Foliage, and natural sparkle (candle light). NEVER USE FAUX SILK FLOWERS & PLANTS

Guests love to leave with some small token that they can take home to remember the occasion. I believe that this should be a small but thoughtful gesture.

A favorite party favor of mine is a single piece of candy with a small tag tied to it which includes a typed or hand written quote for each guest. The trick to this one is finding a specific quote for each guest, one that you know will touch the heart of that individual, or will simply bring out a smile or laugh.

Two websites I recommend to go to for candies and quotes:
www.groovycandies.com
www.quotegarden.com

Easy ways to spruce up your space today!

We all go through are daily lives and routines not realizing that bringing some life back into your space might change you whole day. Whether it's in your office or home, there are some really easy and inexpensive ways to brighten your day.

Here are some quick tips!

Add a small bouquet of fresh flowers or greens. It can be as simple as one pretty flower in a small vase, or just a small plant brings life to a space.

Change your lighting. This can be as simple as changing out your light bulb to give a softer and warmer glow to your space. If you space seems too dark, add a floor lamp or table lamp. There are so many great shops now that carry fun and inexpensive lighting.

Add a new pillow to a chair, sofa, or bed. One fun and bright pillow can do the trick.

For your office, purchase one fun item for your desk. It could be a new small container for paperclips, a fun colored stacking file, or even a new mouse pad. One of my favorites is the BAGUETTE KEYBOARD WRIST CUSHION from Urban Outfitters.

Some of my favorite sites for home and office accessories are:
